MELADINE - Suggested Uses

Suggested Use for Coarse Hair (white, gray, red, coarse blonde, etc.)

1. Begin your daily Meladine routine 4-6 weeks prior to each laser treatment.

2. Shave or clip hair daily. Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatories on the area to be treated.

3. Apply Meladine to clean skin. Do not use lotions or cosmetics prior to application of Meladine.

4. Hold sprayer 3-5 inches away from the area to be treated.

5. In the morning, spray the area to be treated with Meladine, and allow to dry. Repeat this spraying and drying process 6 times. It is imperative that Meladine be allowed to dry between each application.

6. (Optional) Fingertips may be used to gently pat or spread Meladine on the area to be treated. Do not use other applicators (i.e. cotton balls, q-tips, etc.).

7. Repeat step 5 in the evening.

Alternate Directions

If it is impractical to begin Meladine treatment 6 weeks prior to each laser treatment, treat daily for 4 weeks prior to laser treatment. Follow the directions above, except in steps 5-7, repeat spraying and drying process a minimum of 8 times.

Note For optimal results, product must be used as directed. Additional applications will result in a more efficient laser treatment. Results may vary depending on proper use, patient compliance and other variable factors.

Store Meladine in a cool dry place. Product may be refrigerated between treatments if desired.

Warning For external, topical use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Users with known sensitivity to 2-phenoxyethanol should not use this product.

Ingredients Water, glycerol, melanin, natural soy lecithin, 2-phenoxyethanol 0.55% as a preserving agent.

Suggested Use for Fine, Vellus Hair (fine blonde, clear, strawberry blonde, light brown/black, etc.)

1. Begin your daily Meladine routine a minimum of 2 weeks prior to each laser treatment.

2. Shave or clip hair daily. Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatories on the area to be treated.

MELADINE - How It Works
Laser hair removal has provided an effective solution for millions of people looking to rid themselves of unwanted hair. The lasers use the naturally occurring melanin in the hair follicle as a target to selectively disable the hair follicle while leaving surrounding skin structures intact. However, lighter hair, such as blonde, gray, white, red, etc., has too little melanin to provide an effective target for the laser.
When sprayed on the desired area, Meladine’s™ patented delivery system selectively deposits natural melanin directly into the hair follicle. The melanin is delivered via liposomes which are absorbed by the hair follicle. The result is temporary, melanin-rich follicles that hair removal lasers are able to target. As laser light passes through the epidermis, it is able to locate and disable the now-pigmented hair follicle—just as if the follicle had its own natural coloration.

Histology of non-pigmented folicle

Histology of follicle from same patient pre-treated with Meladine

Because the melanin is deposited directly into the hair follicle, the patient will not experience coloration to the hair shaft in the area being treated. In other words, the hair above the surface of the skin will not darken, the only coloration will occur within the hair follicle which is under the skin.

Additionally, because the surrounding epidermis does not absorb the liposomes, the patient will not experience coloration or staining of the skin. Subsequently, Meladine will not enhance the effects of the laser on the skin (i.e. increase the risk of burning the skin), only on the hair follicle.
