Some tips that may save you a service call:

The Bal-Tech Medical service and technical support department routinely helps clients resolve complicated – and simple – issues with their equipment.

Fortunately, most problems can be handled over the phone, by contacting our service line at 1-800-574-2152, ext. 106 and speaking to Bal-Tech Medical’s service manager Lou Sliva.

Lou offers some simple “check points” below to consider prior to contacting Bal-Tech Medical. Try these before making that call to save your time and money!

MAINTENANCE OF IPL FILTERS

Care of the filters for your IPL system is important as it can help extend the life of the handpiece and maximize results for your patients.

1) Keep filters clean at all times and clean the filter after each patient.

2) Do not place filters with coating side facing down, as dust and dirt may stick to the filter and can cause holes in the coating during cleaning or when heating-up during use.

3) Wash filters under warm, running water to remove all gel residues before reusing or storing.

4) Immerse the filters in ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry thoroughly between patients Do not use acetone to clean filters.

5) Wipe proximal surface of the filter (the coated end) only with a lint-free cloth

6) Be careful not to drop the filters – they will break

7) When not in use, make sure that the filters are placed either in their padded boxes or in a similar protected environment.
(It should be noted that the light guide can be removed from its holder for more thorough cleaning.)
