Don't Let Your Medical Spa Project Become All Research
and No Action
The right questions and good advice can go a long way toward opening your medical spa without delays.
Much work goes into launching a medical spa, and a significant portion of that legwork takes place even before clinicians and staff begin conducting meetings to weigh pros and cons and establish a timetable for their project.
Bal-Tech Medical consultants and aesthetic equipment experts have often encountered medical personnel contemplating a new medical spa, or adding aesthetic treatments to a current practice, who stall at the meeting level because they either did not know what questions to address, or had an overload of information and became unsure and uncertain about any of it.
The end result is either endless meetings with no progress, or a potentially lucrative project put on hold.
Bal-Tech Medical can guide clinicians through the process, making meetings more productive and answering questions as they arise.
“A key part of our service is the initial conference call where we explain our various medical spa startup programs and answer questions about equipment needs and establishing a revenue-producing treatment menu,” said Bal-Tech Medical president Rich Balance.
When potential partners or a group of clinicians is getting ready to discuss a medical spa operation, this is a sample of some important factors to consider:
- What kind of budget is being established for equipment purchases?
- Do you have a staffing model to follow as an aid for budgeting and employee recruitment? When contemplating budgets, consider what type of incentive plan you may have in place for employees.
- Establish a timetable for wanting to open a medical spa, and leave at least one to two months lead time for equipment purchases and proper clinical and business/marketing training.
- What skin types would you mostly be treating in your market area? This will determine what types of lasers you should concentrate on obtaining first.
- Are you aware of your state regulations?
- Do you have a medical director in place? If not, consider recruitment of a director early in the planning process.
- Consider the proven revenue-producing treatments of hair removal, Botox and other injectables, along with skin rejuvenation/photofacial prior to jumping into tattoo removal, skin tightening, cellulite reduction or other technologies that are not requested as often or have as strong a treatment protocol established. Those other treatments can be added as inquiries or requests from patients justify it.
There are many other factors and much more Bal-Tech Medical can explain in a conference call or consultation.
