Some tips that may save you a service call

The Bal-Tech Medical service and technical support department routinely helps clients resolve complicated – and simple – issues with their equipment.

Fortunately, most problems can be handled over the phone, by contacting our service line at 1-800-574-2152, ext. 106 and speaking to Bal-Tech Medical’s service manager Lou Sliva.

Lou offers some simple “check points” below to consider prior to contacting Bal-Tech Medical. Try these before making that call to save your time and money!

MOST COMMON ERRORS WHEN ENCOUNTERING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR MICRODERMABRADOR

1) Make sure your tubing is connected tightly to the handpieces and the ports on the system. A loose connection, or tubes connected in the wrong places, leads to a lack of vacuum power. Refer to your owner’s manual to be certain of the proper connections.

2) Remember to clean or replace the filter when noticing a loss of vacuum power.

3) A clogged handpiece also affects vacuum flow. Sometimes, powder, exfoliated skin or makeup residue can clog a handpiece, even though the tip on the handpiece is disposed of after a treatment.

4) If using a Mattioli Crystal or Pepita Peel microdermabrador (utilizing the reusable glass jar kit that allows you to use your own powder), make sure that the “O” ring on the waste glass jar is secured properly, especially after disposing of the waste. The red cap on the waste jar goes on top of the filter, and the “O” ring is set between the filter and the glass jar. On occasion, our technicians have made a service call, only to find that the “O” ring was set on top of the filter, against the red cap, rather than between the filter and the glass jar. This mistake leads to virtually no vacuum flow.

5) If using a powderless microdermabrador, it is still important to change the small filters, most often located in a collection point on the tubing connection. These filters should be changed after every treatment, as it is a collection basin for the only waste material -- exfoliated skin – when using a diamond tip system.
