The Aurora microdermabrador utilizes the diamond tip technology that is becoming popular in physician offices and medispa settings.

POWDERLESS MICRODERM TECHNOLOGY GAINING POPULARITY

There is no doubt that microdermabrasion has developed a solid niche in most aesthetic medi-spa skin-care clinics as an excellent entry-level skin rejuvenation treatment. The procedure has also become a “staple” revenue generator.

The number of microdermabrasion systems available on the market can be mind-boggling at times, but there is no arguing that the latest trend is the powderless technology available in the market.

Bal-Tech Medical has introduced two new systems to its clients – the Gemini and the Aurora – that utilize the powderless technology with a wide assortment of diamond tips of various coarseness and size.

The Gemini combines the capability of doing treatments with both powder or diamond tips (powderless), while the Aurora is a powderless diamond tip system.

There are several benefits in using diamond tips, not the least of which is trimming costs by eliminating powder and disposable tips from your disposables budget. The only disposable item involved in the powderless systems is a small inexpensive filter that collects the exfoliated tissue and is discarded after each treatment.

Also, the diamond tips offer a much cleaner treatment for both the patient and the treatment room setting, with no concerns for powder getting into the eyes of patients or the lungs of the technician.

An ultrasonic cleaner kit comes with each system, and the diamond tips can be cleaned in a matter of minutes between treatments.

“We have used the powderless systems in our own medi-spa, Ultimate Image, here at the Bal-Tech Medical facility, and our clinicians and our patients have really embraced it,” Rich Balance, Bal-Tech Medical president, said.

The Gemini provides the option of easily switching between powder or diamond tip treatments. Some clinicians like this option, as it can make for an easier transition to the powderless technology, and allows the medi-spa to continue to offer powder treatments to those patients hesitant to switch during a previously started powder regimen.

In addition to these new systems on the market, Bal-Tech Medical has also been successfully selling several a diamondtip conversion kit that is used to convert current microdermabradors into a system that can utilize either powder or diamond tip for treatments.

“The systems and the kit have been very popular,” Balance said. “I think our clients are seeing that, beyond the savings in materials, it positions them as a center that understands the latest technology being offered and have found it be an effective treatment to introduce to patients. Both patients and treatment technicians have raved about it.”

Bal-Tech also provides the diamond-tip technology on choice preowned systems at great values. Information is available by calling 1-800-574-2152.

TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVICE FROM BAL-TECH:

Some tips that may save you a service call

The Bal-Tech Medical service and technical support department routinely helps clients resolve complicated – and simple – issues with their equipment.

Fortunately, most problems can be handled over the phone, by contacting our service line at 1-800-574-2152, ext. 106 and speaking to Bal-Tech Medical’s service manager Lou Sliva.

Lou offers some simple “check points” below to consider prior to contacting Bal-Tech Medical. Try these before making that call to save your time and money!

MOST COMMON ERRORS WHEN ENCOUNTERING PROBLEMS WITH THE LUXAR CO2 LASER

1.)  WHEN READY TO USE THE LASER, SOMETIMES USERS WILL FORGET TO OPEN THE SHUTTER. TO DO SO, TURN THE SHUTTER SWITCH TO THE STAR BURST POSITION.

2.) SOMETIMES THE LASER WON’T START THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY TO USE IT AFTER IT ARRIVES FROM BAL-TECH MEDICAL. YOU MUST REMEMBER TO RESET THE RED EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF BUTTON, OR THE LASER WON’T START. THE SHUT-OFF BUTTON IS IN PLACE FOR SAFETY REASONS, AND CAN BE RESET BY PULLING UP THE BUTTON AND TURNING CLOCKWISE.

3.) FORGETTING TO CALIBRATE THE FIBER WILL RESULT IN ERROR MESSAGES. THE FIBER SHOULD BE CALIBRATED WHEN THE NEW FIBER IS INSTALLED, AND AGAIN AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, DEPENDING ON USAGE.

4.) IT’S NOT UNCOMMON FOR SOMEONE TO CALL, SAYING THAT THE LASER WON’T TURN ON …. AND WE DISCOVER THAT THE POWER CORD WAS NOT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY.

5.) THE LASER ALSO WILL NOT OPERATE UNLESS THE FOOT PEDAL IS CONNECTED PROPERLY. THIS CONNECTION, AT THE BOTTOM REAR OF THE LASER, SHOULD BE PUSHED IN UNTIL IT IS LOCKED IN PLACE.
