TECHNICAL SERVICE ADVICE FROM BAL-TECH:
Some tips that may save you a service call
The Bal-Tech Medical service and technical support department routinely helps clients resolve complicated – and simple – issues with their equipment.
Fortunately, most problems can be handled over the phone, by contacting our service line at 1-800-574-2152, ext. 106 and speaking to Bal-Tech Medical’s service manager Lou Sliva.
Lou offers some simple “check points” below to consider prior to contacting Bal-Tech Medical. Try these before making that call to save your time and money!
MOST COMMON ERRORS WHEN ENCOUNTERING PROBLEMS WITH THE LUXAR CO2 LASER
1.) WHEN READY TO USE THE LASER, SOMETIMES USERS WILL FORGET TO OPEN THE SHUTTER. TO DO SO, TURN THE SHUTTER SWITCH TO THE STAR BURST POSITION.
2.) SOMETIMES THE LASER WON’T START THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY TO USE IT AFTER IT ARRIVES FROM BAL-TECH MEDICAL. YOU MUST REMEMBER TO RESET THE RED EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF BUTTON, OR THE LASER WON’T START. THE SHUT-OFF BUTTON IS IN PLACE FOR SAFETY REASONS, AND CAN BE RESET BY PULLING UP THE BUTTON AND TURNING CLOCKWISE.
3.) FORGETTING TO CALIBRATE THE FIBER WILL RESULT IN ERROR MESSAGES. THE FIBER SHOULD BE CALIBRATED WHEN THE NEW FIBER IS INSTALLED, AND AGAIN AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, DEPENDING ON USAGE.
4.) IT’S NOT UNCOMMON FOR SOMEONE TO CALL, SAYING THAT THE LASER WON’T TURN ON …. AND WE DISCOVER THAT THE POWER CORD WAS NOT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY.
5.) THE LASER ALSO WILL NOT OPERATE UNLESS THE FOOT PEDAL IS CONNECTED PROPERLY. THIS CONNECTION, AT THE BOTTOM REAR OF THE LASER, SHOULD BE PUSHED IN UNTIL IT IS LOCKED IN PLACE. |
Kurt Westhoff joins Bal-Tech Medical staff
Bal-Tech Medical has welcomed Kurt Westhoff to its staff as customer service manager.
Westhoff joins Bal-Tech Medical after serving as a facility manager for Syneron’s Chicago distribution/service center.
He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1992, and from North Central College in Naperville in 1997 with a master’s degree in business.
He was a marketing coordinator for the Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center from 1993 to 2000.
At Bal-Tech Medical, Westhoff will be involved in all aspects of customer service, particularly after-sale support and education.
“Bal-Tech Medical has long prided itself on its after-sale service to its clients,” Bal-Tech Medical president Rich Balance said. “Our consultation and business development programs are as big a part of what we do as is saving clients money on equipment purchases and ongoing equipment service.
“It is important for us to be there when the customer is in need of service support or has more questions about positioning their equipment within their practice and making their community aware of what they are offering.
“We’re excited that Kurt has come on board with Bal-Tech, as his experience will definitely help us make the customer’s post-sale experience with our company even stronger,” Balance said.
Westhoff can be reached at Bal-Tech Medical at 1-800-574-2152, ext. 101 or by e-mail at kurt.w@bal-techmedical.com
